Garrett and Alexandra dry their damp gear on a line along
the top of their tent. Would you believe the temperature gets up to 120
degrees up at the very top of their tent!
The picture to the left is January of this year, below is
what it looked like 25 years ago!
Look at how most of the trees are the same height. This happens
because the area was cleared in the past and all the trees started growing
at the same time.
See the marks in the tree bark? They were made by a black bear. Why do you
think the bear scratched up the tree?
Here is the beginning of the "canal" between
the North Branch of the Penobscot and 5th St. John Pond. It used to be
a sluiceway to move logs between the two waterways. . .now its filled
in with trees and bushes
