Day 1 of the Winter Walk for the Wilds!

Sunset over the tent city in Greenville. Garrett and Alexandra were joined by 5 other tents and campers to demonstrate the methods and practicalities of Winter camping Conover-Style. Wanderes came to share hot-chocolate and warm up inside the toasty tents.

During the evening display tables were open in the Greenville High School to give people the opportunity to learn more about the North Woods and about Winter Travel.

That evening, Slattery & Stewart performed at the Greenville High School auditorium to a delighted crowd. After the concert there was an open jam session at the Black Frog Restaurant. Fine music, fine food and fun were had by all!

The next morning people congregated at the Tent City for the send off. At the peak there were over 80 people gathered to wish Garrett and Alexandra a good trip and walk with them part of the way.
Garrett and Alexandra enjoy a quiet moment before donning their walking gear and beginning to pack in earnest. As you sit and read this they are out in the Northwoods - walking, camping, or reflecting on the great value of the Northwoods. Make sure to check back tomorrow as we'll have more updates, photos, and trail reports!
