Who has helped make the Winter Walk possible? Appearances Information for teachers and students.
Winter Walk for the Wilds 2006 is a project fueled by equal parts inspiration and creative stubborness on Alexandra and Garrett's part. They have done extensive planning to coordinate financial contributions, in-kind goods and services, project logistics and communication. One and all are invited to add their support to Winterwalk 2006. The funding goal is $13,600.00. Once again we are confident that this can be reached, and already offers for sponsorship and in-kind services have been received.

The Natural Resources Council of Maine has stepped forward as Fiscal Sponsor for Winterwalk 2006. By this act Winterwalk 2006 shares the 501(c)(3), or non-profit status of the Natural Resources Council of Maine, thereby making the project eligible for grant money. In addition, individual donors now have a means of making their contributions tax deductible through the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

People who wish to make a donation to help underwrite Winterwalk 2006 should call the Natural Resources Council of Maine at 1-800-287-2345 and ask to speak to Joyce Gracie. To make a gift online, just go to: http://www.maineenvironment.org/winterwalk2006.asp and follow the link in the story to the NRCM's giving page(please remember to write "Winterwalk 2006" in the "Notes" section). Or people may send a check to the Natural Resources Council of Maine, 3 Wade Street, Augusta, ME 04330. Please make checks payable to "Natural Resources Council of Maine," but note "Winterwalk 2006" in the memo field.

Where are the Winterwalk supporters?

Garrett thought it might be fun to make a map showing where the sponsors of the Winterwalk reside.

The result is to the right. The state with the most sponsors is Maine, followed by Massachusetts, New York and New Hampshire.
